At Hatchlands, our Family Learning Conferences (FLCs) are a celebration of your child’s learning and progress and are designed to put your child’s learning at the centre of the discussion.
Families can choose whether their child attends the conference. We strongly encourage children to be part of the meeting, as their voice plays an important role in helping them take ownership of their learning and understand their next steps. However, we fully respect that this may not be right for every family, and parents and carers are welcome to attend on their own if they prefer.
When children attend, they are encouraged to talk about their work, share what they are proud of, explain what they are getting better at and identify what they need to work on next. Their thoughts and reflections feed directly into the discussion and help shape the targets that are agreed together.
Family Learning Conferences strengthen the partnership between home and school, supporting children to become confident, reflective learners and helping parents and carers to better understand how to support learning at home.
