Hatchlands Promise

Our Hatchlands Promise aims to broaden the horizons of our children and link to our school's value of Compassion, Courage, Responsibility and Respect.

We broaden horizons by developing global learners and planning opportunities for children to be aware of the wider world and its current issues. Our aim   is for our children to understand and respect cultural diversity and differences with an understanding of how the world works and encourage participation in the community at a range of levels, from the local to the global. We teach our children to make the world a more sustainable place and to take responsibility for their actions.

We do this by providing learning linked to:

Wellbeing

Environment

Challenge

Ambassadorship

Relationships

Equality

Wellbeing

We aim to nurture confident, independent children who are able to make responsible, healthy choices and have the ability to show empathy and compassion towards others. Our curriculum provides opportunities for our pupils to learn about their physical health, what constitutes a balanced diet and about how exercise benefits the body. In addition, we want our pupils to have a developing understanding of how to maintain good mental health. Our curriculum, therefore, teaches an understanding of emotions, promotes resilience and encourages an open approach to discussing worries or concerns.

Environment

We aim to enhance and enrich our children’s understanding of their local and wider environment by providing opportunities for learning within and beyond the classroom. We seek to develop an attitude of care and respect, where children understand how actions and decisions impact upon the world.

Challenge

At Hatchlands, high expectations underpin the emphasis on children challenging themselves and aspiring to be the best that they can be. Across the curriculum, children are introduced to human success stories/role models both in the locality and internationally. Children aspire to what they know exists, so these vital opportunities provide inspiration and aspiration. We encourage children at Hatchlands to see their learning as a journey and a route to success, understanding the importance of effort, attitude, self-belief and continuous improvement.
