Our school day runs from 8:45am until 3:15pm.
The green gate will open in the morning at 8:45am and our expectation is that children will then use the first 10 minutes of the morning to complete the routines of hanging up their coats, putting their book bags and water bottles into the correct places, finding their name cards and settling to some learning before the register is taken at 8:55pm.
The green gate will be locked at 8:55am and any child arriving after this time will be marked in the register as being late.
At the end of the school day, the green gate will be opened at 3:10pm and parents will then filter round to the area near to Puffins classroom where all of the children will be dismissed at 3:15pm.
The green gate will be locked at approximately 3:20pm. Any child not collected by this time will be taken to Mrs Austin in the office and will need to be collected from the main office area. If you are running late for any reason then please do let us know and we can reassure your child and look after them until you arrive.
At Hatchlands we are fortunate to work in partnership with OSCAHS, an independent provider of wrap-around care.
OSCAHS provide a breakfast club that runs from 7:30am until 8:45am. Breakfast is provided along with opportunities to learn and play. At 8:45 the OSCAHS staff deliver the children to their classrooms and help to settle them into class.
OSCAHS also provide an after-school club that runs from 3:15pm until 6pm. At 3:15, the OSCAHS staff come to the Reception classrooms and collect the children who are attending the after-school club. They then provide them with a range of healthy snacks and a variety of activities, both inside and in our outdoor learning area.
We are delighted that Jen Pearson-Young is the manager of OSCAHS at Hatchlands. She has a wealth of experience as a teaching assistant, particularly specialising in Speech and Language Support. She is also completing her Forest School qualification and will be providing Forest School sessions as part of the after-school club. Jen is ably assisted by Paige Sheffield who has worked for OSCAHS in other settings. Their lovely cheerful nature, their commitment to work in partnership with the school and the similarities in their ethos to that of Hatchlands are just some of the reasons why the club is very popular and why the feedback in the first few weeks from children and parents has been extremely positive.
