Autumn 1

In Autumn 1, Year 3 pupils enrich their learning through a creative and knowledge-rich wider curriculum linked to their prehistoric theme. In History, they explore life from the Stone Age to the Iron Age, comparing how people lived, worked and survived. Science focuses on rocks, fossils and soils, developing investigative skills and scientific vocabulary.

Autumn 2

In Autumn 2, Year 3 pupils continue their learning through a rich and engaging wider curriculum linked to their We Will Rock You theme. In Geography, pupils explore natural and man-made resources, renewable and non-renewable energy, and how materials such as wood, iron ore and sand are used in the modern world.

In Science, pupils investigate forces and magnets, learning about pushes, pulls, friction and magnetic attraction. Design Technology focuses on designing, making and evaluating a textile pouch, developing practical and problem-solving skills.
