  • Curriculum Intent

At Hatchlands Primary School, we are proud to offer an ambitious and engaging curriculum that is rooted in the National Curriculum and carefully designed to meet the needs of our diverse school community. Our curriculum reflects our shared belief that learning today enables children to make a difference tomorrow, and is underpinned by high expectations for all pupils.

Our curriculum is coherently planned and thoughtfully sequenced to ensure pupils build secure knowledge, skills and understanding over time. It follows the National Curriculum and is shaped by evidence-informed practice to ensure depth, progression and inclusivity. A strong emphasis is placed on helping pupils to know more and remember more, with retrieval practice embedded across subjects to support long-term learning.

High-quality teaching sits at the heart of our curriculum. Staff engage in ongoing professional development to continually refine their practice and ensure teaching is adaptive and responsive to pupils’ needs.

Learning at Hatchlands begins with the classroom environment - both the physical spaces we create and the positive learning communities we foster. Children are encouraged to articulate their thinking, share ideas, and engage in respectful discussion, building confidence and resilience as learners.

The curriculum is designed to empower every child, including those who require additional or bespoke support, so that all pupils are able to achieve their potential and leave Hatchlands as confident, thoughtful and engaged learners.
