Hatchlands Local Governing Body

Carrie Shaw

Chair of the Local Governing Body (LGB)
Appointed LGBM

"I have lived in the area all my adult life. My three children attended schools in Reigate and now three
of my grandchildren attend schools in the Borough.  Having retired from a career in property law, I
was keen to play a part in the local community and apply myself in a different environment to the
benefit, I hope, of others.  I joined the LGB at the start of the Covid pandemic and I have been so
impressed by the hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and kindness of everyone involved with
Hatchlands.  The school really does have the children at its heart. I look forward to playing my part in
its development."

"In the time our son has been at Hatchlands, we have been impressed by the professionalism,
flexibility and enthusiasm of everyone at Hatchlands, particularly given the challenges of setting up a
new school during Covid. I wanted to join the LGB to try to make a positive contribution to the
school, and also to have an opportunity to give back to the local area. Given the opening of the new
school building this year, I’m sure it will be a very interesting time!
I’m really looking forward to learning more about Hatchlands, the Everychild Partnership Trust,
visiting the school when appropriate; speaking to and getting to know the teachers, the other
LGBMs and the Hatchlands community."

"I have been a parent of Hatchlands since it opened in 2018 and fully support the development of a
new school. It has been a pleasure to be part of the school in its evolving journey, and whilst not
always an easy one seeing the passion and dedication from the staff that have helped the school
grow is an experience not many parents get to see. I now have 2 children within the school and
wanted to join the LGB to further support the future direction of Hatchlands and help where I can to
make it the best possible school for the children attending and those joining in the future."

Netti Lawrence

Appointed LGBM
"I have taught in the area for all my adult life, firstly in infant schools, moving into special education
and finally teaching 1:1 children who were experiencing difficulties with early literacy skills.
Both my children went to local schools before university and now 2 of my grandchildren are at
school in Reigate."

Appointed LGBM

I am Deputy Head at an independent girl’s senior school in south London. As part of the leadership team, I have experienced first-hand the value that supportive school governors can offer to drive innovation and to support successful outcomes for students. I am therefore delighted to now support Hatchlands and their work in helping students fulfil their potential.

I live in Headley and am an active member of the village community.

Louise Dowie

Staff Elected LGBM

I am currently in my third year of teaching at Hatchlands Primary School, where I carry the role of Lead Practitioner and Reception Class Teacher, as well as Early Reading Champion and Reading for Pleasure Champion. With 10 years of teaching experience across a variety of year groups and key stages, I have had the opportunity to lead different subjects and phases, contributing to both student development and staff collaboration.

I decided to take on the role of staff Local Governing Body member (governor) because I am keen to understand the inner workings of school leadership and decision-making. Being part of the team that shapes the policies and strategies to drive our school's success is something that excites me, and I am eager to contribute to this important work.

As a staff LGBM, I hope to use my experience and passion for early education to support the school in achieving well-rounded pupils, helping to create an environment where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe that every decision we make should reflect the diverse needs of our students and the dedication of our staff, and I look forward to being part of this journey.
