Our Curriculum Intent
At Hatchlands Primary School, we passionately believe that children’s learning should be based around their interests so our highly-skilled teaching team plan creative learning opportunities to inspire and enthuse our children. The curriculum belongs to the children and it is our job as practitioners to help shape the learning experiences around themes that excite them and lead to the children challenging themselves in their learning.
We also believe that we are responsible for our planet and local environment and we encourage our children to learn about sustainability and the choices we can all make to ensure that we leave our environment in a positive state for future generations.
We aspire for every child to become confident, resilient, curious and self-motivated. We believe that all learners should experience an exciting and engaging curriculum that recognises the importance of reading, writing and maths, and progressively builds and deepens knowledge, understanding and skills across all subjects.
Our intent and ambition for our curriculum is that it is designed to meet, at a minimum, the requirements of the national curriculum and enables increasing proportions of learners to progress well in all year groups across all subjects and attain at least age related expectations combined in reading, writing and maths by the end of KS2.
Our core school values underpin every aspect of the curriculum; from teaching and learning to assemblies, from the way our children move around the school to the conversations they have in the dining room; our school values are at the core of all of our interactions.
Our values are:
